Psalm 145:2-3

Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

Defined: To rave and to celebrate foolishly – extremely demonstrative worship, both loud and physical being, to radiate/shine

 

Psalm 119:164 – Seven Times a Day I will PRAISE you

Psalm 150

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!

Rejoice – to brighten up; cheer up; be glad, joyful, merry, to be full of gladness

 

Shiggaion or Shigionoth

Defined: Frenzied, emotional style of song – not a word for praise, rather a style

Higgaion – Related to modern musical term affettuoso – to play with passionate expression or feeling

Maschil – Meditative style; contemplative song

Mahalath Leannoth – On the lute or lyre (modern guitar), a song for affliction

Michtam – to engrave & remember

Neginoth – Accompanied with all stringed instruments

Nehiloth – With all wind instruments (flutes, pipes)

Sheminith – To be sung by lowest note by men - bass (Psalm 6 – accompanied by 8 string harp)

Alamoth – To be sung by sopranos (highest range for women)
